How many people know modern technology is outdated?

The medical, the political system, the physics departments are already obsolete.

“Can we agree our technology is increasing exponentially and even technology from 5 years ago is obsolete?”

I disagree.

(1) Technology is increasing quickly, but not exponentially.

(2) My fourteen-year old TV works just fine with a digital converter box plugged into it. My thirteen-year-old DVD player works just fine. My fifteen-year-old land line phone works fine. My twelve-year-old car drives just fine (and I’m hoping for another five to ten years out of it). Heck, pick up a fifty-year-old am/fm radio, turn it on, and it’ll pick up signals just fine. My old lamps work fine. My old Windows XP laptop works fine.

The issue here isn’t so much that our belongings are obsolete, it’s that Wall Street suits spend billions of dollars per year to convince us that we need the latest and the greatest gadgets, when we really don’t.
